I am linking up with Miss Kindergarten, A Teeny Tiny Teacher, and Dragonflies in First for their Fourteen in '14 linky party.
I feel like this quote applies to me as a new mom...I don't know everything and am learning every day. All I can do is try my best and keep on learning!
I was pregnant most of this year, and while I didn't gain lots of weight until the end, I still didn't really fit into my regular pants comfortably after a few months. These low rise maternity jeans from Old Navy were my favorite. They actually look like regular jeans as long as the top covers the elastic part, which is small. I still wear them now actually because they are so comfortable and fit well. They didn't work at the end of my pregnancy though because the elastic was just too tight.
I'm not sure if this is the best movie that I watched this year, but I can't really remember any others that I saw so it'll have to do! I did like the book more, but the movie was pretty good too.
I actually did not want to watch House of Cards because I thought it would be boring, being about politics and all. But my husband wanted to give it a try and after a couple of episodes I was hooked. Can't wait for the next season to be announced! Hopefully all the deceit and manipulation it depicts as occurring within the government isn't actually true...
WhichWich is actually a sandwich shop, not really a restaurant but it's still my favorite. You pick a paper bag (like turkey, ham, etc.) and then you mark on it all of your selections. They make the sandwich and serve it to you hot in the bag. It's really good! If you ate here, you'd never want to go to Subway again.
Decorating? Does that count as a thing? I've always lived in an apartment and never really bothered to do anything as far as decor goes. But this year we bought a house and had a baby, so I decorated the nursery and LOVE how it came out!
My husband got me this Alex and Ani bracelet with a G on it (for Gracie) after the baby was born.
Click on the image above to find a tutorial on how to make salt dough ornaments. It was super easy! I did the baby's hand, but really they could be made at school as gifts using cookie cutters too.
I wrote a post titled In Love with Teaching or Just the Idea of it? It's not necessarily a very uplifting post, but it was a very honest reflection of my thoughts. It was also nice to connect with some others who were feeling the same way at the same time. I think that's how we teachers help each other survive! I'm staying home this year so I don't have a classroom, and while I miss so much about teaching, I know that all that other stuff I hated is still there overwhelming the rest of you. Just know you aren't alone and don't give up because the kids need you!
Making it through 9 months of pregnancy with hyperemesis gravidarum and giving birth to a healthy baby girl. Yes, this is what Princess Kate has/had. I was lucky enough for it to last the entire pregnancy, right up to the morning I was in labor. 9 months of throwing up, 9 months of medicine, 6 months of that having to inject it into myself, a couple of weeks on an IV, 9 months of eating about ten things... Thankfully it stopped as soon as I gave birth and I could eat whatever I wanted immediately after! And ironically, even though I spent most of my pregnancy losing weight, Gracie weighed almost 8 pounds!
Her shirt says it all!
Anything and everything having to do with this little one. I'd say giving birth to her, but the actual birth part is probably not my best memory!
Last year I listed having a baby and buying a house as my goals for the year. Well, I accomplished them! Since they were so big it makes it hard to set a goal for this year. I guess it would be to just be a good mommy and wife and raise a happy, healthy baby girl.
Satisfied - For a long time I've always wanted, wanted, wanted...my husband would say I still want "stuff" of course, but I'm talking big things - getting married, buying a house, having a baby - now I have all that!
