When Do You Go Back? {Linky} & a Freebie!

I have been MIA on my blog this week.  I'm not sure why, since I haven't really been doing much!  I know some of you are already getting ready to go back to school this coming week, so I thought it would be a perfect time for a link party to share when we start back!

Link up and share with us when you officially start back at school.  How many days of work do you have before the students come back?  What do you spend those days doing?  How are you feeling about going back...?!

I officially go back on August 12th.  That's 12 more days!  But I have three days of PD in there, so it's really only 9.  Plus, I am hoping I can spend the week of the 5th setting up my room.  The students don't come back until August 26th.  So that's two entire weeks of meetings and professional development.  Which is a loooooooong time.  Fingers crossed we get some time in our rooms and time to plan.  I haven't seen an official schedule yet.  I'm sort of looking forward to going back...not to the meetings...but I can't wait to get into my room, meet my kids, etc.  I'm sure it won't be long until we all start counting down the days until next summer though!

Also, before I go I wanted to share some freebies I made, inspired by a pin on Pinterest
The pin is a dead end, so I thought I'd spruce it up a bit for my classroom.  I made it in the following designs and you can find it free in my store.

Then I decided to make a writing one too.  You can also find this one free in my store.  I hope you like them!

Grab the button and link up below to share when you go back to school!

  1. I love the tips on reading and writing, this would be great to give out at Open House. I can't believe you go back so long before your kids come...we only go back 3 days before.

  2. I go back on the 12, kids start on the 14th! I have to help with trainings 2 days before that. I've already spent at least a week in my room at school.

  3. It always amazes me when I see how many PD days other districts have before students come. We only have one and it is usually stressful because we are making last minute changes to our schedules and class lists. We don't have teacher work days or anything like that in our district. Crazy how different it is from one state to another or just one district to another.

  4. I'm a little jealous of all the time you have for PD--I teach in a private school, and I always feel like we don't get enough time for PD.

Enjoy the last days of summer!!

  7. I used to have a sign similar to the READ sign above. I purchased it at a teacher supply store and hung it in my room until it became tattered... ugly tattered. I forgot all about it! The one I had added a few adverbs... Read, Read more, Read again, Keep reading, etc. Thanks for the reminder and the great idea to extend it to writing.
