New Year...New Blog!

This is my first blog post ever!  I am so thankful to all of you out there with your teaching blogs and products on Teachers Pay Teachers.  It is through stalking your blogs for the past six months or so that I have rediscovered a passion for what I do!  I moved across the country to Texas a couple of years ago and have had a hard time adjusting to the schools. So my resolution for this new year is to get a blog started, get myself on Teachers Pay Teachers, and get back to teaching from my heart.  Check for the first two and I am looking forward to starting the new year with my students rejuvenated.

I am also excited to be linking up with Farley from Oh' Boy 4th Grade and taking part in my first currently...fingers crossed that I did it correctly.

I chose the word warmth because we are finally experiencing some cold here in Texas.  Therefore, I keep turning the heat up and my husband keeps turning it down.  Ironically, I am orginally from Massachusetts/Connecticut and should be very used to the cold.  But I barely survived there just the few days we went home for the holidays!
I don't go back to school until next Monday, so I am thankful for the extra few days off.  I have to help give a PD session on that day though so that is starting to stress out my brain which is still on vacation. Best of luck to those of you who have to go back to school sooner.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to a year of blogging with you all!

    1. Thanks Melissa. It is just on administering the DRA2. It is new for my school and we are giving it at the end of the month. I have used it before but always get nervous in front of others!

    1. Hi Amy,
I just started following your blog. I love your chart for having students post their exit slips. I teach two classes of ELAR, so something like that would work for me as well. Happy new year!

  5. Welcome to blogging Jessica! I am a Texas gal too and HATE cold weather. My poor kiddos don't see much of the playground if the temperature goes below 50 degrees. =)

We give the DRA also. How is the DRA 2 different?

I am happy to be the newest follower of your cute blog. I would love for you to hop over and visit me when you get the chance. =)

    1. Hi Heather,
I love your blog. It's really cute and so are your products! I guess one good thing about being in Texas is that we get more time off until we have to go back to school! DRA has a timed fluency component starting at level 14 and the comprehension component is written starting at level 28. The school I am at now hasn't used the old DRA for a few years, so we are kind of starting from scratch. Happy new year to you!

    1. Hi Katie,
I just visited your blog and started following you. Somehow I ended up at the mall the day after Christmas and everything was on sale. I went this past weekend and everything was for spring. I missed my chance! Happy new year to you.
